A GOOD LEADER: Scouts the trip where possible. Carries ten essentials,
keeps groups together, appoints an "end man" to see that no one gets
left behind. Doesn't allow anyone to wander
off alone. Allows not less than 3 hikers per hike. |
| |
|
A GOOD HIKER: Accepts decisions made by the leader, stays with
the group, reports to the leader for permission to leave or stray,
obeys the club rules, does not litter, stays on trails and tries to
leave trail cleaner than found it. |
| |
|
TIPS: Beware of deer ticks: Keep skin covered, especially in
woods, tuck pants inside socks. Don’t sit on grass in woods. Carry
plastic pad or tarp to sit on. |
| |
|
Wear good, sturdy boots. Make sure to purchase a pair
that fit properly, provide adequate cushioning and are
waterproof/resistant. The most important details is they give good
ankle support and protection. |
